We believe that innovation is driven by the belief that technology can inspire change for the common good. This year, we had the privilege of collaborating once again with the Ars Electronica Futurelab to develop and exhibit Buzz Swatters: Playful Pandemic Prevention, a groundbreaking installation showcased in the Open Futurelab at the Ars Electronica Festival 2024.
An Immersive Experience for Collective Action
Imagine stepping into a room where buzzing noises, tropical humidity, and a peculiar sensor-driven mosquito greet you. This immersive environment is not just an artistic exhibit but a call to action—inviting participants to engage in gameplay that simulates a fictional pandemic unfolding in POSTCITY. With a sensor-driven mosquito leading the charge, visitors were drawn into an urgent scenario where their collective actions could prevent the spread of a mysterious disease.
A Message for the Future
Through this interactive and immersive experience, Buzz Swatters conveyed a powerful message: tackling global challenges like pandemics requires collective effort and a willingness to change behavior for the common good. The installation’s playful approach underscores the importance of solidarity, innovation, and democratic decision-making in creating a healthier, more connected world.
We are grateful to the Ars Electronica Futurelab for their partnership and to the thousands of visitors who engaged with Buzz Swatters at the Ars Electronica Festival 2024. Together, we continue to explore how technology can inspire collective transformation and address the pressing challenges of our time.
Stay tuned for more updates from Godot GmbH and the Collective Transformation Lab as we push the boundaries of innovation for social impact.
