Godot Inc (located in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, represented by Ken Moriyama, hereinafter referred to as Godot) and the company’s EU base, Godot GmbH (located in Vienna, Republic of Austria, represented by Go Suzui), will participate in the “Ars Electronica Festival 2023”, the largest media art festival in Europe held in Linz, Republic of Austria, from September 6 to 10, 2023. They will exhibit “Anatomy of Nudging”, which focuses on behavior change and AI transparency.

“Anatomy of Nudging” is a participatory installation where visitors can experience the behavioral change process through “nudging” in a game-like manner. This is a collaborative exhibit with the Ars Electronica Futurelab (hereafter referred to as AEF), the research and development division of the creative agency Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria. Visitors use the behavioral change AI from Godot called “Nudge AI®︎ *1” to change their own actions or encourage behavioral changes in others, aiming to achieve the set tasks. At the same time, Godot promises to undertake pre-established public challenges (such as policy recommendations or public workshops) based on the number of participants who achieve the tasks. The purpose of this is to invite participants on a “journey of self-discovery” to gain insights into their thought and behavioral mechanisms. Simultaneously, it lets participants feel how individual behavioral changes can create significant societal waves.

Godot aims to create a more inclusive and kinder society by harnessing the power of technology and science to eliminate biases caused by human cognitive limitations, and by augmenting the “empathy” humans possess. We believe that this instalation will offer participants an opportunity to experience a glimpse of the world we aspire to.

Godot and AEF resonate with the philosophy of unlocking human potential through behavioral science and machine learning to create a better society. In October 2022, they launched the ‘Collective Transformation Project *2’ , a collaborative development initiative aimed at prompting the actions necessary for us and society to address global-scale issues. This installation represents an important milestone for the project.

For technology and science to create not just a society that is convenient for someone, but a more inclusive and kind society, a high level of transparency that is understandable to everyone is essential. Through our joint project with AEF, we will continue to work on the development and implementation of products and services that are more transparent and trusted by people.
