Godot Inc. (Headquarters: Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, CEO: Ken Moriyama, hereinafter referred to as “Godot”) and its European R&D hub, Godot GmbH (Vienna, Representative: Go Suzui), have launched a joint development project “Collective Action Tech for Infectious Diseases” with the Ars Electronica Futurelab and Professor Mark Coeckelbergh of the University of Vienna, an authority on AI ethics.

This project views the challenges of infectious diseases facing the world from the perspective of “Collective Action Problems” and proposes new solutions utilizing behavioral science, AI, and sensor technology.

Infectious diseases are a problem that affects not only individuals but society as a whole. To prevent the spread of infectious diseases, it is important to avoid the free-rider problem and encourage collective behavior where each person is mindful of the necessary actions. This project aims to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and optimize countermeasures. We will utilize behavioral science, AI, and sensor technology, all while giving maximum consideration to the ethical aspects of cutting-edge technology, to implement innovative approaches in the prevention and countermeasures against infectious diseases, aiming to improve resilience across society.

The developed prototype is scheduled to be exhibited at the Ars Electronica Festival 2024, the world’s largest media art festival.
